What is Oxygen?

Oxygen is a chemical element belonging to Group 16 of the periodic table, represented by the molecular symbol O₂. It constitutes approximately 21% of the Earth's atmosphere and is the third most abundant element in the universe. Oxygen plays a critical role in supporting combustion, respiration, and other vital biological and chemical processes. A significant portion of the mass of living organisms is composed of oxygen.

Applications of Oxygen:

Oxygen is widely utilized in various industrial and scientific sectors, including:

  • Steel and Metallurgical Industries

  • Textile Industries

  • Aerospace and Diving Applications

  • Medical and Hospital Facilities

  • Glass Manufacturing

  • Mining and Mineral Processing

  • Scientific Laboratories

  • Paper and Cellulose Product Industries

  • Aquaculture and Fish Farms

  • Ozone Generation Systems

Oxygen Production Methods:

Oxygen can be produced in both gaseous and liquid states through the following two main methods:

  • Cryogenic Distillation of Liquid Air – Achieves up to 99.999% purity

  • Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) – Achieves up to 95% purity

Typical output capacities: 3 Nm³/h to 216 Nm³/h
Purity range: 90% to 95%

PSA-Based Oxygen Generators:

The oxygen generators produced by Fidar Faraz Fartak Company operate based on the Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) method. In this process, oxygen is separated from nitrogen, argon, and other components of compressed air using a specialized adsorbent known as Zeolite Molecular Sieve (ZMS). The result is high-purity oxygen with a concentration of 93% ± 2%, suitable for medical, industrial, and laboratory applications.

How Does an Oxygen Generator Work?

Fidar Faraz Fartak oxygen generators use a twin-tower adsorption system composed of two alloy vessels filled with ZMS absorbent, along with a set of air filters, pneumatic valves, pressure regulators, and control devices.

Process Overview:

  1. Clean, dry, and oil-free compressed air enters one of the towers.

  2. The air passes through the ZMS adsorbent, which has microscopic pores that preferentially adsorb nitrogen, argon, and other gases more readily than oxygen.

  3. As a result, oxygen passes through the bed and is collected at the outlet, while other gases are retained in the adsorbent material.

  4. After saturation, the system switches to the second tower, allowing the first to regenerate by depressurization.

  5. The purified oxygen is collected in a buffer tank, equalized in pressure, and then supplied to the downstream oxygen line.
